  1. What we collect

We collect information you give us directly, information generated by using the app, and a small amount from third parties who help us run it.

    • Account details: name, phone number, email, and password.
    • Profile information: city, area of legal concern, and preferred language.
    • Case content: messages, documents, and notes you exchange with a lawyer through the app.
    • Payment information: transaction records from our payment processor. We never store your card or UPI credentials ourselves.
    • Device and usage data: device type, app version, crash logs, and general usage patterns.
  2. Why we collect it

We use your data to run the core service and to keep it safe and improving.

    • To match you with lawyers relevant to your case and location.
    • To process consultation bookings and payments.
    • To verify lawyer credentials and prevent impersonation or fraud on both sides of the marketplace.
    • To respond to support requests and legal or regulatory obligations.
    • To understand usage trends so we can fix bugs and improve the product.

We do not use your case content to train third-party AI models, and we do not sell your personal data to advertisers.

  3. Who we share it with

Your case details are shared only with the lawyer you choose to consult, for the purpose of that consultation. Beyond that, we share limited data with:

    • Payment processors, to complete transactions.
    • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers, to store and run the app securely.
    • Government or judicial authorities, only when legally compelled by a valid order.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
  4. How long we keep it

We keep account and case data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, most personal data is erased within 30 days. Billing records are kept for 8 years and dispute records for 3 years, as required under Indian tax and consumer-protection law. Full detail is on our account deletion page.

  5. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

    • Ask what personal data we hold about you.
    • Correct inaccurate or outdated information.
    • Withdraw consent for data processing you previously agreed to.
    • Request deletion of your account and data.
    • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.

To exercise any of these, write to our grievance officer below.

  6. Security

We encrypt data in transit and at rest, restrict internal access on a need-to-know basis, and log access to case documents. No system is completely immune to risk, and we'll notify affected users without undue delay if a breach materially affects their data.

  7. Children's data

LawyerSpot is built for users 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

  8. Changes to this policy

We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes. For material changes, such as new categories of data collection, we'll notify you in-app before they take effect.
